pipelines. The use of in-line surfactant treatment
in advancing the efficiency of pipeline pigging is now a common practice.
A "next generation" line of pipeline cleaners are now offered by Rapid. These new products are totally free of environmental and worker safety compromising chemical ingredients. Rapid has devoted its development resources to formulate plant-derived surfactants and cleaning chemistry capable of performing "equal to" or "better than" performance when compared to the petrochemical counterpart.
In most situations, pipeline operators are limited in the ability to completely shut down pipeline systems to allow for water/surfactant or solvent/surfactant cleaning of pipelines. A growing number of pipeline operators are choosing advanced iron dispersing and dissolving products. Rapid provides advanced iron sulfide removal products capable of creating a mobile slurry of the black powder. Treatment choices include batch and continuous online treatment.
Active Online Cleaning
A new approach is gaining acceptance in pipeline cleaning involving the continuous injection of a new class of pipeline cleaners designed to disperse and solubilize iron sulfide (black powder). By continuously or intermittently batching this type of cleaner, lines are effectively cleaned. The result is that maintenance pig runs are handled without interruption, and corrosion protection on lines is improved dramatically. The iron sulfide build up is removed actively over time rather than in large batch slugs which can potentially damage the pipeline system, resulting in costly off-site disposal of wastes. Both the Rapid EnerFlow 454 and Rapid EnerFlow 780 are proven effective in this sort of application.
